Reading -The Cay, E-portfolio Sample - Comprehension
Write an “ITTM” for the following sentences:
After a moment of silence, I heard the sizzle of the water as Timothy doused the torch.
I think that means a short period of not being able to hear anything, Phillip listened to the sound of his friend that he met soak
the flashlight in the ocean.
the flashlight in the ocean.
For more than a week, I knew he had been labouring over nails to turn them into fish hooks.
I think that means after 8+ long days Phillip had known Timothy was creating sharp curved items to catch sea creatures.
Roadblocks! There were many roadblocks for us in this book! Choose at least two of the following words to explain and ‘clear
the roadblock’ for.
the roadblock’ for.
Alabaster - ???
Cay - a rock or some sand usually on a small bank of an island.
Jumbi - Bad luck!
Langosta - A type of sea creature like a lobster or crayfish that you can eat.
Malaria - A type of disease that can make you hallucinate and do crazy things.
Write down at least three things Phillip learnt whilst on the cay (for example, about himself, caring for others and life etc)
1) He learnt how to fend for himself-catch fish, build huts, start fires, find help etc.
2) He had to learn how to find his way around the island with 0 sight.
3) He had to learn how to protect himself from the dangers of being blind like if the fire spread he wouldn't be able to see it spreading so he would have to get away quickly by using his senses of being able to smell and feel the heat of the fire.
You have really convinced me that you understand the “ITTM” strategy with our shared book “The Cay”. You are putting all of the sentences into your own words and are convincing your audience. You were able to clear all of our roadblocks yourself using prior knowledge.
